A Look into Stars III by Translators of Cultures

Sioux Falls is undergoing a significant transformation, with changes that are shaping the community. Currently, an impressive 43% of the youth attending schools in Sioux Falls come from diverse backgrounds. To support these young individuals and help them integrate into the community, various programs, such as the STARS program, have been established. The primary goal of these initiatives is to foster connections between youth and community leaders, empowering them to become well-rounded individuals.

Through participation in the STARS program, these youths are gaining invaluable knowledge and skills from the very best mentors available. They are taught essential qualities such as confidence, professionalism, and the fundamentals of becoming influential community leaders. It is truly a transformative experience for these young individuals.

One inspiring example is the story of Amila, a former participant in this program from two decades ago. Now, her daughter Alex has recently discovered the transformative nature of Translators of Culture (TOC) and eagerly brought her mother to attend the first session of the STARS-III program. This remarkable mother-daughter duo is not only forming a stronger bond but is also on a shared journey of growth and learning.

Amila passionately emphasizes the importance of embracing one’s identity without any shame or hesitation. She encourages everyone to be proud of who they are and embrace both the differences and similarities among individuals. Her message is clear: strive for success and reach for the stars.
