When becoming a powerful, empowered woman, it’s important to stay true to who you are in situations, environments, and places that may not fully accept you. Let’s dive into this a little deeper…
When you are somebody who constantly changes one’s standards, morals, and self to please somebody else’s idea of you, you start to question yourself and lose sight of what it is that you really want out of life. I know a lot of us can relate to feeling this way at times! It takes away from who you are at the core.
Standing up for what you believe in: Mentally strong women are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in and what is morally right. When somebody is being bullied, you best believe you will see a strong, powerful woman standing up and making a difference. They are not afraid to ruffle some feathers if they feel strongly about a topic or situation. They do not change themselves in those moments.

Not afraid of what others think or say about them: This is a big one. It is human nature to want to please and be liked by everybody. However, a woman whose foundation is strong in knowing herself will not be phased by what others say or comment on. Why? Because somebody else’s opinion is none of her business anyway. She will be so unbothered by it. We never want to be defined by what others think of us.
Having self-compassion: Having self-compassion allows you to be your own best friend when times get hard. It allows you to get back up and try again. The main three elements of self-compassion are mindfulness, self-kindness, and common humanity. Mindfulness allows all thoughts, feelings, and sensations to enter awareness without avoiding or resisting them. Having mindfulness allows us to respond in a new way to situations that may be extremely difficult in the moment. Self-kindness is crucial for a woman in her power to have because we are not perfect and we all make mistakes. Having self-kindness in those moments of failure offers us unconditional acceptance for ourselves. Last but not least, common humanity for ourselves and others means learning to accept and forgive our flaws.
Being a woman in her power is a beautiful, empowering, enlightening act that you can choose daily.
